Founded by Prof. Dr. Peter Heintz, the World Society Foundation (WSF) has supported scientific research on world society and sustained a network of scholars interested in transnational and global research topics for over forty years. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and its current board members are Mark Herkenrath, Hans-Peter Meier, and Christian Suter (President). The WSF publishes the book series World Society Studies (Lit Verlag, Münster, Wien, Zürich), promotes international conferences on world society topics, and provides grants for research papers to be presented at these conferences, also honoring outstanding research papers on world society that address a specific topic announced by the Foundation in its international conference programs through its World Society Foundation Award for Research Papers on World Society.
